Oh the beauty of travel...
When we hear the word travel, our minds instantly drift to outfits — chic dresses, modest layers, and curated looks for every occasion. But beyond the clothes lies another essential: the makeup travel bag. Often overlooked, it’s the quiet hero of every getaway, holding the products that keep us feeling fresh, confident, and radiant no matter where we are.
With the Australian summer turning up the heat, the need for smart, well-packed beauty essentials becomes even greater. For us hijabi girls, who already juggle so much in our suitcases, forgetting a crucial item can feel all too familiar — but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Summer calls for sunshine, seaside escapes, and spontaneous family trips. As the warmer season envelops us, I couldn’t think of a better time to share this curated list of must-haves. A guide to ensure your makeup travel bag is as ready for adventure as you are.
Makeup Travel Bag
Your makeup travel bag. A very important bag to miss if you've already packed the cutest outfits. You can't have a cute outfit if your face doesn't agree. If you know, you know. So for travelling, you don't want to pack EVERYTHING you own. Obviously. You want to be strategic about it. Instead of packing 5 different shades of lipstick, pick 1 or 2 that you reach for the most. Or if eyeshadow is part of your look, instead of 3 different ones, pack 1 that you love the most and will work with anything. Better yet, try finding a palette that includes powdered shadows, blush and highlighter so you don't have to carry too many items. See, strategy. The products I've listed below are only examples of items you can pack and can be used as a guide for your preference.
Veil Tint
A lightweight foundation, perfect to cover imperfections and give you an even tone. Sometimes, when you get that natural sun-kissed glow, you don't even need a foundation, but this one is perfect to just enhance your natural skin and give you a dewy look.

Concealer
Ok, so if you decide to skip on the foundation, concealer, you don't skip on. It freshens you up, even if you're only applying it under your eyes. You can choose a more natural colour to your skin tone to even you out without brightening too much under the eyes.

Cream Bronzer
A cream bronzer is what you need for a sun-kissed glow. Unless you get it naturally ;). Applying this with concealer is the perfect combination for an effortless look while still looking glamorous.

Cream blush
Recently, I came across Huda Beauty's 'blonzer' products. The idea of using a cream blush with a subtle bronze undertone is to give you a sun-kissed bronze look. This Rare Beauty product ticks all the boxes.

Loose Face Powder
A loose face powder is key to keeping all the cream products in place. It prevents the creasing, and your makeup lasts longer. This Chanel one is perfect with its lightweight consistency and 'powderless' feel.

Bronzer
The perfect balance between a bronzey-blush tone. Honestly, this would be perfect on its own if you don't care for the really pink blush. It's giving the 'blonzer' effect, if you will. Gorgeous to use as eyeshadow as well if you want to minimise products in your travel makeup bag.

Luminous Blush
A blush with a glow. Who doesn't love that? And it comes in the cutest little travel size to fit right into your makeup bag without taking up too much space.

Highlighter
Once upon a time, we used this all over our faces. Now, apply cautiously to the highest points of your cheeks and subtly on the nose. You can even use it as a shadow for that gorgeous, slight shimmer.

eyeshadow Palette
This is by far the best neutral-toned palette that complements any makeup look. Black for a soft liner look, browns for creases and outer corner shadows and shimmers for a night out.

Mascara
Unless you sort yourself out with lash extensions, or you prefer wearing falsies, a little mascara can do no harm. It elevates your makeup look, giving you a clean, fresh look. Getting them in these small sizes is also too cute to pass up.

Eyebrow Pen
With all the eyebrow products and textures I've tried, this product has to top them all. It's easy to apply, gives you a natural finish and doesn't give you room to get carried away to drawing your eyebrows in. Perfect, simple and natural.

Lip Liner
After doing a bride's makeup for her wedding, she introduced me to this lipliner, and now I can't go back. A beautiful nude shade for all skin types, allowing you to draw in the perfect pout while still looking natural. Use it on its own or with a lipstick; it's the only shade you may ever need.

Lipstick
So I'm obsessed with this makeup artist on Instagram, and she creates the most beautiful combination of a nude-pink lip. This pink shade is very similar to the one she uses. Apply in the centre and blend effortlessly with the nude liner I've suggested above.

faux Lashes
Half lashes are my favourite recently! I do love a glam lash, but I lean more towards the half lash. It elongates your eyes, gives you a nice lifted cat eye and makes your eyes look bigger.

Travel Brushes
Grabbing brushes for your makeup travel bag can sometimes be overlooked. These are perfect as they're the perfect size and come in all the brushes you'll use for your face. A beauty blender is also a product you can add.
